a train car traveling on an overhead track.
caboose

a car on a freight train, used chiefly as the crew's quarters and usually attached to the rear of the train.

a completely enclosed freight car.

signalman
a person whose occupation or duty is signaling on a railroad.
switch
n
a track structure for diverting moving trains or rolling stock from one track to another, commonly consisting of a pair of movable rails.
third rail
a rail next to the running rails of an electrified railroad to provide electric current to the motors of a car or locomotive.
tie
closely spaced beams, usually of wood, for holding the rails forming a track at the proper distance from each other.
