a page-by-page listing of the yearbook's contents used by staffs to keep organized, meet deadlines and plan coverage
layout
arrangement of pictures, captions, headlines and copy on the double page spread
leading
the vertical spacing between lines of type
mug shot
a class picture or formal portrait
opening
the first two to four pages of the yearbook which introduce the theme
panel pictures
a group of individual class pictures that are printed directly next to each other with only a thin white rule line separating them
pica
a unit of measurement equal to 12 points or 1/6 inch. Used to measure photos and space
point
a subdivision of the pica. Used to measure type and lines
screen
reducing the density of a solid ink. Indicated by percentages to create lighter shades

a part of a yearbook devoted to a certain subject matter (sports, classes, academics, etc.)
